Long Term Success I #AskASoccerPro Show Ep. 048
Setting yourself up for success five years from now, 10 years from now, even 15 or 20 years from now, is really what the MSL mindset is all about. Creating the right mindset to go the distance is so important. Here in the MSL, we don’t take shortcuts. We put in the work we know is necessary to reach our goals, and then doing the work to maintain our success.
What is the point of achieving success if we don’t know how we got there, or we don’t know how to stay successful once we’ve arrived?
One of the reasons it's difficult for people to buy in on the MSL early on is that we are over here selling the truth. Unfortunately, most people aren’t buying the truth because it means that they have to address all the things they’ve been doing wrong in order to become successful.
Now, most people don’t want to hear that they’ve been doing it wrong. It’s easier to believe that the reason they can’t succeed and move forward is someone else’s fault, rather than take accountability themselves.
This is a big difference between what many people are thinking and how we think here in the MSL. Here, we recognize that if a bad situation is even a tiny bit our fault, we have control and can make a change for the better.
Setting yourself up for success five years from now, ten years from now, even 15 or 20 years from now, is really what the MSL mindset is all about. We put in the work we know is necessary to reach our goals, and then doing the work to maintain our success.
What is the point of achieving success if we don’t know how we got there, or we don’t know how to stay successful once we’ve arrived?
If you can find even a sliver of responsibility for where you currently are, if it's somewhere you don’t want to be, then you have the opportunity to do the work and figure out how to overcome your circumstances or situation.
Most people aren’t able to accomplish their goals not because they are incapable, but because they are incapable of believing its possible. In the MSL, we’re working on helping individuals understand that accomplishing something meaningful takes time, effort, energy, and sacrifice. You’ve got to be willing to put in the time and work.
